Over the past few months I’ve been developing and teaching an online course for the library technician program at Mohawk College. It’s called Introduction to Metadata and Meatadata Applications and this is the first time that this course has been offered.
One of the metadata schemes that we looked at was CDWA-Lite which is a schema based on the Categories for Describing Works of Art (CDWA), the conceptual framework for the terminology used in the scholarship on works of art.
I had some difficulty locating a good example to demonstrate the XML coding for this schema and in the end created my own from scratch. I thought I’d share this adding at least one more example for someone else to stumble upon if they happen to be looking at CDWA-Lite.
This example is based on the information for a Turner watercolour found on the CDWA website. Inlcuded here is an image of the XML file. If you’re interested in the “raw” XML file you can grab that here.
For more on CDWA-Lite see the documentation for the schema.
